Rally Obedience is a lot of fun and a great way to foster good manners in your dog. Best of all, you can easily practice what you have learned in class when you get home because there is little equipment required.
Based on beginner obedience skills, your dog should know the basics (like loose lead walking and recall) before entering the sport.
In Rally, a dog and their handler move together through a course made up of 10-20 signs. Each sign displays a skill to perform such as turns or behaviours like sit, down, or recall. The dog and handler learn to work together with enthusiasm throughout the course.
The performance is timed, but it’s not all about being fast, It’s also about accuracy, control, and teamwork. As the class levels progress, so does the difficulty of the skills and therefore the training required.
At present, Patch Dog Training offers Rally Obedience training for those who are already competing in the sport.
