Scentwork

Scentwork , nosework or scent detection , is an engaging and rewarding activity that allows dogs to enjoy a hobby perfectly suited to them – using their incredible sense of smell.

Watching your dog search an area for a hidden odour is absolutely fascinating ! Seeing how they move through the area , read the scent , adjust their body language , and follow the trail back to source is nothing short of awesome.

There is no better way to strengthen the bond with your dog and provide valuable mental stimulation all whilst having the best fun with them .

At Patch Dog Training we specialise in training for competitive Scent Detection from starter levels through to more advanced trials and we offer a variety of group sessions and workshops from beginners upwards.

You will learn all about search development , how to imprint your dog on to an odour , how to teach an indication along with fundamental handling skills going on to progress to more specialist techniques .

Our trainers have built up years of experience and work their dogs competitively in a variety of trial systems . They are also Judges and Trial Managers for Scentwork UK , Scent Ops and Nosework Games so have experienced competitive scent detection from all angles.

Most of our trainees go on to attend trials in one capacity or another . Dogs of all ages , breeds and size are welcome.

At Patch Dog Training we hold regular Nosework Games and Tier 1 Scentwork UK trials with Scent Ops and Tier 2 Scentwork UK being held at other venues .
